Every few weeks someone asks us about AI.
The answer is simple:
We use AI extensively in our business.
We never use AI to create our music.
As the founder of SodaPop Records and The Dead Air Saints, I've spent my entire career working with technology. I'm a graphic designer, software developer, producer, recording engineer, and entrepreneur. I've helped build software used by millions of people, and I believe artificial intelligence is one of the most important technological advances of our lifetime.
We use AI every day.
We use it to analyze Spotify data. We use it to help evaluate marketing campaigns. We use it to accelerate business decisions. We use it to help create content and marketing assets more efficiently.
Frankly, I think any modern record label would be foolish to ignore a tool this powerful.
But when the red recording light turns on, our policy changes completely:
Real Musicians. Real Studios. Real Records. Every Time.
The Dead Air Saints do not use AI-generated vocals.
We do not use AI-generated instruments.
We do not use AI-generated performances.
We do not use AI-generated songs.
Every note you hear is performed by a real human being.
Every vocal, guitar, bass, keyboard, drum, and orchestral performance is played by an actual musician and recorded in a professional studio environment.
The Dead Air Saints were never designed to be a traditional four-piece band. Instead, we operate more like the great session-player ecosystems that powered generations of classic recordings. Much like The Wrecking Crew, The Funk Brothers, and the elite Nashville and Los Angeles studio musicians behind countless legendary records, we bring together the right players for the right songs.
Sometimes that's our core lineup.
Sometimes that's exceptional session musicians with specialized skills and unique creative voices.
The goal never changes:
Serve the song.
Every Dead Air Saints release begins with a story. Once we understand the world a song lives in, we assemble the musicians best suited to bring that world to life.
Different songs may feature different players.
Different worlds may require different voices.
But one thing never changes:
The music is human.
In an age increasingly defined by automation, we're still believers in musicians making music together.
Real players.
Real performances.
Real emotion.
Real records.
Different Worlds. Same Signal.
